TV host Revillame faces new charges
Television host and comedian Willie Revillame is facing new charges filed by his wife, Floralice "Liz" Almoro, who had earlier sought the annulment of their marriage. Revillame, 45, was charged on Tuesday at the Quezon City Prosecutors Office with violation of Republic Act 9262, the law protecting women and children against violence. The Children's Protection Center of the Philippine National Police filed the charges based on a complaint submitted by Revillame's wife on August 16. The court earlier issued a "temporary protective order" prohibiting Revillame and Almoro from commenting in the media on the petition for the nullification of their marriage. RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act provides that "all records pertaining to cases of violence against women and their children, including those in the barangay (village), are confidential." - GMANews.TV
