Regine and Ogie: 'Just the best of friends'

Regine Velasquez has admitted that she's had a boyfriend for four years now, but she has never named the guy. No, it's not Ogie Alcasid, though the way they have been treating each other have tended to fan, rather than squelch, rumors that they have something romantic going on. In last week's 20th Star Awards, for instance, not only did she and Ogie arrive together but they also dedicated their awards to each other. But in an interview for GMA's StarTalk, Regine again denied that Ogie was her secret boyfriend. They stressed that they were the best of friends — that's why they offered the awards they won that night to each other. Regine won the Best Talent Search Program Host award for Pinoy Pop Superstar and Ogie the Best Comedy Actor award for Bubble Gang. Regine said she was happy for bagging the award because she loved the show so much and she was surprised since had never considered herself a true host. Ogie, however, was quick to reassure her that she was a good host. He also complimented her for being lovely during the awards night. Regine was wearing a very revealing gown, for which Robin Padilla had earlier in the night complimented her. Asked to comment on the reported marriage proposal of Robin to Regine, Ogie at first hesitated to speak, saying he was just a friend, but also later on mumbled that he was happy for her. It was earlier reported that Robin’s wife Liezel Sycangco who is based in Australia even went to the Philippines to "court" Regine. Robin is a Muslim, having embraced the faith while serving a prison term for illegal possession of firearms. Regine said she had nothing against the reporter who has been insisting in articles that she and Ogie were an item. Reporters, she said, have the freedom to speak out their minds and voice their opinions. The rumors about their being involved with each other have been circulating for some time. Regine was even being blamed for the alleged breakup of Ogie's marriage to Michelle Van Eimeren. Michelle is now also based in Australia with their kids, but Ogie insists they’re still together and that he visits his familythere whenever he can. - GMANews.TV
