Rape charges filed vs actor-turned-politician Patrick dela Rosa


Former actor and current Oriental Mindoro board member Patrick dela Rosa on Tuesday was formally charged for allegedly raping a 20-year-old student in Quezon City last week. The complaint was filed by the alleged rape victim before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Tuesday afternoon. The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office likewise recommended no bail against the former actor, who was charged with violation of Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code. Dela Rosa was arrested on Friday by Quezon City police after he allegedly raped the student inside a condominium along P. Tuazon Street in Cubao, Quezon City. In her complaint, the victim said she and her friends were having a drinking session on Thursday night when dela Rosa and another male companion arrived and joined them. She added that she fell asleep at around 1:00 a.m. on Friday. After four hours of sleep, she woke to find herself naked with Dela Rosa allegedly “on top of her." The victim likewise said she slapped Dela Rosa and screamed for help after becoming aware of what was happening. Two of her companions came to her rescue and saw the suspect already dressed, she added. The victim said she reported the incident to the condominium’s security guard, who called up local cops, leading to dela Rosa’s arrest. Dela Rosa’s camp, however, said it will file a counter-complaint against the supposed rape victim. –VVP, GMANews.TV
