Pinoy netizens join clamor to proclaim Dolphy as National Artist

The public clamor for Dolphy to be conferred the National Artist award for his contribution to the Filipino entertainment industry has mounted with the comedian's ailing health.

 

To some, the recognition of the Comedy King as a National Artist is already long overdue. 

 

A prolific actor in his time, Dolphy is best known for his roles in film and television, most prominently in the 70's sitcom “John en Marsha,” where he played alongside actress Nida Blanca.

 

The National Artist Award is the highest national recognition bestowed by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) upon Filipino individuals who have excelled in the following fields: Music, Dance, Theater, Visual Arts, Literature, Film, Broadcast Arts, and Architecture and Allied Arts.
