Eric Quizon recounts Dolphy’s final moments

Peacefully Meanwhile, Dolphy's grandson Rowell Quizon said that the Filipino Comedy King Rodolfo "Dolphy" Vera Quizon died peacefully, surrounded by his big family. In an interview on ‘News To Go’ of GMA News TV, Rowell also said each one in the family who were present lined up for a turn to give the comedy king a hug during his last moments Tuesday night.   “Isa-isa namin siyang niyakap tapos sinabi namin sa kaniya kung anong gusto namin – yung messages namin sa kaniya,” Rowell said, adding that as goodbyes were being said, doctors were removing medicines from their dying lolo. He said most of the family members were around to say goodbye shortly before Dolphy passed away at 8:34 p.m. at the MMC. Moreover, Rowell said: “Nakita kasi namin na nahihirapan na si lolo,” which helped the family let go. In a statement read by Dolphy’s son Eric before the reporters gathered in front of the MMC at about Tuesday midnight, he said: “But where his spirit was strong, his body had so weakened. He had to go.” Bronze casket The remains of the comedy king were taken to the Heritage Park in Taguig City past midnight, and will be viewed exclusively by family and close friends Wednesday, Rowell said.   According to Rowell, Dolphy, who lies in a bronze casket clad in full white suite, save for a red handkerchief in his breast pocket, will be moved to the Dolphy Theater inside the ABS-CBN compound in Quezon City around 1 p.m. Wednesday, and will return to the Heritage Park around 4 a.m. Thursday, for public viewing. — LBG/DVM/HS, GMA News
