Family spends last hours with Dolphy as public viewing ends
Relatives of the late Comedy King Rodolfo "Dolphy" Vera Quizon spent their last moments with him in private Sunday, a little over 12 hours before he is laid to rest. Dolphy's family ended the public viewing of the ace comedian's remains at the Heritage Park in Taguig City at 11 p.m. Saturday, radio dzBB reported. At midnight, the family then asked media crews at the chapel lobby to leave the area. Since Thursday, fans had queued at the Heritage Park, enduring the heat and long line just to get a five-second glimpse of their idol. Dolphy, who died at the Makati Medical Center last July 10 at age 83, was to be buried Sunday afternoon, after necrological rites at 2 p.m. Last Friday, his son Eric Quizon had asked for understanding from the public on the family's wish to spend the last day in private. Quizon advised fans and the public to just watch television coverage of the burial. — LBG, GMA News
