Angel Locsin finds her new haven
By DIVINE ENYA MESINA, Philippine Entertainment Portal
As Sabina in Majika, she fought off evil sorcerers with her magical powers. As Darna, she used to beat up the bad guys with her extraordinary strength. And in Asian Treasures, her latest TV series on the primetime block of GMA, she joins actor Robin Padilla in conquering various Asian destinations in search of missing treasures. But when the cameras stop rolling and she takes off her telefantasya costumes, the heavenly young actress goes home to a pretty regular and cozy place. Located on the 33rd floor of a high-rise building in Mandaluyong, Angel's condominium unit is as low-key as its occupant. When she moved in, the place was already fully furnished. She liked the furniture and overall décor, so she did not change a thing. It's a place where shades of white dominate, with touches of beige and brown. "Pag uwi ko, usually pagod na pagod ako," Angel explains. "Kaya gusto ko makakapag-relax ako when I get home. Ayoko ng matitingkad na kulay, kasi baka sa halip na ma-relax ako, baka pagpasok ko magulat ako. Gising ulit ako noon, 'di ba? Baka hindi na ako makatulog." Locsin leased the unit without even bothering to check out its size or floor area: "Tinanong ko lang kung ilang kuwarto at ilang banyo. Noong sinabing dalawang bedrooms and three bathrooms, kinuha ko na agad." She then moved out of the condo unit she owns on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, but left much of her stuff behind. Now that nobody lives there, she's thinking of renting it out, but is willing to sell if she finds a buyer. Locsin says she decided to rent the P40,000-a-month unit in Mandaluyong because she needed a bigger space. Security is tight here. "Pag nagpapa-deliver nga kami ng food, hindi puwedeng umakyat lang basta ýong delivery boy, kailangan bababain mo pa." The strict security can be a little inconvenient, but Angel doesn't mind it at all, knowing it's for the tenant's own safety. In addition to this rented unit and the Quezon City unit, Locsin owns a lot in South Forbes, Makati. "Lote lang ýon. Ayoko namang patayuan pa ng bahay kasi mag-isa pa lang ako." She also has a piece of property in Bulacan, which she plans to transform into a farm. So binili ko." Close to her condo building is an apartment she rents for her mom. "May boyfriend siya dati, pero ngayon yata wala â thank God!" Angel says, smiling and rolling her eyes. Her dad, Angel Colmenares, now in his 70s, and her six other siblings (four of them from Mr. Colmenares's first family) have been to Angel's condo. Angel is touched that her dad, woh has gone blind, took the trouble to visit her. "Ang sweet lang na nage-effort pa rin siyang pumunta." "My dad is a Catholic, but my mom, hindi nagchu-church. I have an ate who is a [born-again] Christian." As much as possible, Locsin goes to church every Sunday. She believes her faith helps her cope with stress brought about by the intrigues and controversies that are a staple in showbiz. "Iba talaga ýong feeling pag nagcha-church," Locsin says. "Mas kontento ka. Kahit na ang dami mong problems, parang wala lang. Alam mong maaayos din lahat." - Philippine Entertainment Portal Tags: angellocsin
