Tessie Oreta welcomes Kris' campaign support

Tessie Aquino Oreta has filed her candidacy for senator at the Commission on Elections shortly before 11 a.m. on Sunday, saying that she will appreciate niece Kris Aquino's endorsement of her candidacy. Oreta has recently joined the Nationalist People's Coalition headed by businessman Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco. Oreta is formely under the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino headed by Sen. Edgardo Angara. Asked by dzBB on her reaction to nephew Tarlac Rep. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino's decision to be with the opposition, Oreta said: "I admire Noynoy... When people have passion for the country...pantay-pantay na yun." Asked if she will be endorsed by popular celebrity-niece Kris, Oreta said: "There is no plan for that. But it would be good if she would decide to endorse the candidacy of her aunt. When I go to the market, many people say that I look a lot like her..." Oreta was one of the 11 senators who voted against the opening of the second envelope during then President Estrada's Senate impeachment trial in 2000 that led to EDSA People Power 2. Oreta earlier told dzBB that the administration's Team Unity "will not encounter conflicts" among its candidates. "Perhaps we would only disagree on some issues like (the change of government) to a unicameral form under a parliamentary system that is being pushed by (Sen.) Angara. Tito (Sotto) and I do not favor the Senate's abolition. We still like a bicameral form of government under a parliamentary system," Oreta told dzBB in Filipino. Asked if she could unite with Lakas-CMD stalwart Rep. Prospero Pichay, Oreta said: "I will respect other people's feelings and sentiments...Hindi ko na puwedeng makuha ito sa pulitika ng galit."- GMANews.TV
