Jessie J set to make Manila dance on July 14

Platinum record-making Brit pop star Jessie J will be flying to Manila for what is expected to be a show-stopping performance titled, “Jessie J Live in Manila” on July 14 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jessie J is set to deliver “an evening of hits, dance tunes, trendsetter ways and show-stopping vocals which alters from jump-up and rave anthems made for nightclubs to soft ballad highlights,” according to the concert promoter's press release.

Her set list includes “Domino,” “Laserlight,” “Thunder,” “Excuse My Rude,” “Do It Like A Dude,” “Wild,” “Who You Are,” “Price Tag,” and “It's My Party.”

Best known for her mega-hit single “Price Tag” and for her brief coaching stint in the UK edition of singing competition-reality show “The Voice,” the 26-year-old—who also dabbles in rap and RnB—released her second studio album “Alive” in September 2013.

“I wrote my first album when I was 18. This is definitely more mature,” she said of her new record on which she wrote and worked on with the likes of Rodney Jerkins, Claude Kelly, and Stargate.

Jessie bravely shaved her head on live television in March last year for Comic Relief. The hair was to be made into a wig for children who have gone bald due to cancer treatments.

Speaking to UK's Glamour Magazine on the act, she said, “I want to keep it like this for a bit, yes. I look like this on my album cover. I wanted to make a statement. I feel like there's no point in shaving your head for charity if you're then going to just grow it back the next day.”

She is the first British woman in history to take six top ten singles from one album, which just happens to be her first. —Vida Cruz/KG, GMA News
