Gwen Zamora on her onscreen character: 'Just don't hate her'

Alejandra, perhaps, counts as one of the strangest and most eerie characters in television today. Trapped in a portrait for decades, this 'Innamorata' character harbors a lot of pain and bitterness because of her sheer love for Arnaldo.   Gwen Zamora, who plays Alejandra, also finds the character’s personality very disturbing, but she highly enjoys portraying her.   “I’ve been having a lot of fun with my character. She’s psychotic, she’s a lost cause. As in, obsessed na siya (pero) masaya, (playing her is) a lot of fun,” she said.   Even with the peculiar disposition of Alejandra, Gwen understands where she’s coming from.   “You can’t blame her naman kasi she was trapped in a picture for how many decades, di ba? One of the reasons why she died was because of her love for Arnaldo,” she added.   Because of her rivalry with protagonist Esperanza (played by Max Collins), along with her psychotic nature, she is sometimes impossible to understand. Gwen, however, laughs at the character’s hatefulness, and slightly hopes that people will see the context of the angst.   “Just don’t hate her,” she laughed. “I get tweets (saying) na ang sama sama (ko daw). If you were in her position, I’m sure maloloka ka din. Nasa picture ka lang from 1931 until 2013, come on. Syempre mababaliw ka na di ba?”   On the other hand, there are also a few things she admires about Alejandra. “I like her demeanor. She’s very classy, very regal,” Gwen added.   The actress, however, noted that there might be one major factor she’d change about the character.   “I would change my clothes, for one. Maybe change my clothes and my hair,” she joked.   Watch Gwen portray the multifaceted Alejandra, weekdays on GMA Afternoon Prime. --  Meryl Ligunas/Bochic Estrada, GMANetwork.com
