‘Harry Potter’ actress Evanna Lynch visits Yolanda victims in Tacloban

Actress Evanna Lynch, who played the character Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter movies, visited Leyte province to meet with the child survivors of super typhoon Yolanda.

Together with the members of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Lynch on Wednesday went to a health center in Tacloban City, one of the most heavily-hit areas still recovering from the aftermath of the devastation, according to a television report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali.

The report added that Lynch, who is Ireland's UNICEF's ambassador, cradled a baby, and gave it supplements. She has also reminded the baby's mother to always take care of her child.

She has also met with children, reminding them to stay in school to be able to help themselves get out of poverty.

The report also quoted Lynch as saying the Irish actress admires the resilience of Filipinos despite the hardships brought by the calamity.

Lynch arrived on Monday, and is set to remain in the country until Thursday, according to a separate report on GMA News TV's Balita Pilipinas Ngayon.

Aside from her, other famous foreign personalities who visited the typhoon-hit areas are football star David Beckham, and singer Justin Bieber. — Amanda Fernandez/VC, GMA News
