Bong Revilla, Jinggoy films among 6 movies for MMFF

The latest films of Senators Ramon “Bong" Revilla, Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada were chosen by the executive committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival of the Philippines (MMFFP) for inclusion in this year's film festival. The MMFF will start December 25. The announcement was made Friday at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Bayani Fernando. Revilla's film, entitled “Resiklo," is produced by the Imus Productions, Inc. while Estrada's “Katas ng Saudi" is produced by the Maverick Films, Inc. The other movies chosen by the MMFF executive committee are “Bahay Kubo" produced by MAQ Production; Enteng Kabisote 4; Shake, Rattle and Roll 9-1st Episode; Christmas Tree of Regal Entertainment; and the “Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo of Star Cinema-ABS-CBN. The selection board's criteria was based on 40 percent for the story, which includes creativity, writing excellence, innovativeness and thematic values; 50 percent for commercial viability; and 10 percent for Filipino cultural and historical values. “We have rules and regulations that are crafted by the executive committee headed by yours truly to prevent controversies. This year the commercial viability is only 50 percent. I hope all the participants know the rules and regulations of the MMFF. Please don’t complain. Your participation is voluntary" Fernando said. Fernando said the MMFF is expected to generate considerably higher gross revenues compared to last year’s P418 million. “This year’s entries have all the critical elements that could launch a box-office hit and our beneficiaries stand to gain from these brilliant creations," Fernando said. Fernando said the MMFF is a breath of fresh air to the dying local movie industry and its beneficiaries include the Film Academy of the Philippines, Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, Movie Workers Welfare Fund, Optical Media Board, Film Development Council of the Philippines and the Presidential Social Fund. - GMANews.TV
