Will it be played? ‘The Beatles’ documentary pulled from CineFilipino

Foiled by fickleness, "We Will Never Play Again in Manila" has been withdrawn from the CineFilipino 2016 lineup due to last minute editing decision.

In a short chat exchange with GMA News Online, director Sigfreid Barros Sanchez confirmed the documentary had to be pulled from theaters after a former Presidential Security Command (renamed Presidential Security Group) member ultimately declined to give his testimony on record.

"We were supposed to interview a 70-year-old PSC during Marcos' time who claims he was instructed by Malacanang to kick the Beatles. He agreed first. Then declined. Then agreed. Then declined. Niligawan namin. Waited. Until the last minute. But declined. Sa kanya lilibot story namin. Last minute revision," Sanchez said.

He added, "'Di kami umabot on time sa deadline. Kanina kami natapos and ready to show it today sana. Wala naman palang MTRCB on a Friday. Sa Lunes na bukas nila. Ayaw talaga sa amin ng pagkakataon."

Private screenings of the movie will be announced by the director once available. — RSJ, GMA News
