For the first time in MEGA Man magazine's history, a representative of the LGBT community will grace its cover.
International singing sensation Charice Pempengco, who came out as lesbian in June 2013, will be on the cover of the men's fashion magazine's June issue.
“In a move that can only be described as bold and daring, we tread unprecedented waters with headline-making international singing sensation Charice on the cover of MEGA Man... Charice speaks her truth and we come to know and understand on the most personal level yet,” according to MEGA Man.
It added, “By most accounts, this has never been done before and whatever way the pendulum will swing, this was a move worth taking.”
On the cover, Charice pulls of a look that is equal parts sartorial and rugged, donning denim wear from the menswear collection of an international clothing brand.
“Whatever the case or realization may be, there is one thing we are sure of—we couldn’t be prouder of this decision than we already are. You should be, too,” MEGA Man said.
The singer is currently working on a new album featuring a “new and improved” sound, a step toward the desired reinvention of her career. —Bianca Rose Dabu/KBK, GMA News
