Pinoy beauty queen and couple join ‘Amazing Race Asia 5’

Filipina beauty queens and a famous celebrity couple will be two of 11 pairs who'll compete for the top prize in the Amazing Race Asia season 5 this October.

Parul Shah and Maggie Wilson Consunji, ex-beauty queens, and former "It's Showtime" host Eric "Eruption" Tai and wife Rona Samson-Tai will compete for the $100,000 or P4.7 million prize.

Other pairs include:

• Rach and Vicky; Travel Hosts from Indonesia
• Louisa and Treasuri; Childhood Friends from Indonesia
• Yvonne and Chloe; Beauty Queens from Malaysia
• Alex and Will: Brothers from Malaysia
• Brandon and Alphaeus; Old Schoolmates from Malaysia
• JK and Mike; Radio DJs from Singapore
• Rei and Kenji; Siblings from Singapore
• Tom and Anita; Dating from Thailand
• Lisa and Nicole; Life Partners from Vietnam

Returning to co-host Amazing Race Asia is Asian-American actor-host Allan Wu with Indonesian model-actress Tara Basro.

Filipino teams in the past have competed and even won the nearly 30-year-old game show.

The team of Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera won season 4 of the reality game show in 2010.

Hardin and Herrera competed against nine other teams including the Filipina team of Jacinta James and Lani Pillinger, who finished fourth overall. — AT, GMA News
