Regine cries over Ogie’s songs: ‘They mean different now’

Velasquez shed tears at Ogie Alcasid's birthday concert For Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez, every song rendered for her by boyfriend Ogie Alcasid sounds more meaningful now compared before. Last night, August 24, at Ogie's birthday concert at the Music Museum, Regine couldn't help but shed some tears while Ogie serenaded her with a tune that is so well familiar yet sounded strangely poignant more than ever. "Hindi ko nga alam na maggaganun [cry] ako kasi lagi ko naman nadidinig 'yung mga kanta na 'yon, but I guess it sounds... it means different now," said Regine while standing closely beside Ogie in an interview with GMA-7's Saksi. As expected, the idea of marriage was once again raised to the controversial couple. "We need to settle a lot of things first," expressed Regine for the nth time. "Basta maayos 'yon... ipagdasal natin," interrupted Ogie, "Alam naman natin 'yung mga legalities. Kung wala namang problema na, e, mabilis pa sa ala-sais." Both parents of Ogie and Regine were also on hand to celebrate with the singer-songwriter. "Iyon naman ang hangad namin, maging maligaya siya," quoted Regine's ever-supportive father, Gerry Velasquez with regards to his daughter's relationship with Ogie. Ogie's dad, Herminio Alcasid, agrees with the same point of view: "Basta maligaya ang anak namin, di dun din kami." The elder Alcasid, who courageously did a duet with his son, has nothing but good words for his future daughter-in-law. "She's a very good daughter. She has provided very well for her parents," he said approvingly. Ogie's birthday concert will have its second run tonight at the Music Museum. - Philippine Entertainment Portal
