Jean Garcia denies telling daughter's suitor to use condom

Actress Jean Garcia on Wednesday denied telling Mart Escudero, the suitor of her daughter, not to forget to "use condom." In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Garcia said that she would never use those words regarding her daughter, Jenica Garcia, whom she described as a nice and decent kid. "Tingin mo magsasalita ako ng ganoon tungkol sa anak ko?" Jean said after entering the venue of the press conference for the film Hide and Seek. These were the same words used by Escudero when asked about the issue. "Exactly!" Jean said. "Kung sa mga barkada ko o sa mga kaibigan kong bakla sasabihin ko ‘yon, pero hindi sa anak ko." Jenica cried when the "condom issue" erupted and Jean said that her daughter tried to talk to her and clear up the issue. But Jean said that she brushed aside the attempt and told her daughter that there was no need for an explanation. "Na-sad lang ako kasi it's my daughter. She's just 17, she's a nice person, she's decent. Huwag sanang i-corrupt ang emotion ng bata. When she cried, gusto kong sabihin sa kanya na ‘Ganun talaga ang showbiz, masanay ka na.' But I didn't. Showbiz shouldn't be like this, tayo-tayo nagsisiraan," Jean Garcia said. "Ang sinabi ko na lang siya na huwag magpaapekto, just pray. Naghirap akong palakihin siya na maging mabuting tao kaya nasasaktan ako," Jean added. Asked if Jean harbored any ill-will against those who wrote the article, the actress said that she was saddened by the report. "Nagalit? No. More on nalungkot lang ako. If I say something like that to Mart, it's like saying naniniwala ako na may nangyayari sa anak ko. Napaka-inosente pa ni Jenica, hindi pa siya nagkaka-boyfriend,"she said.
