Castlevania Season 2 trailer unveiled for Manila fans
Filipino fans of anime series Castlevania got a first-look at Season 2's full trailer during the exclusive worldwide premiere at the AsiaPop Comic Con on Saturday.
Co-showrunner Adi Shankar explained that the trailer was first shown in Manila because such events "never happened in this part of the world."
Shankar's Castlevania brings to life characters from the 1989 fantasy video games, and follows the story of Trevor Belmont, the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, as he tries to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepes.
The trailer is dark and bloody, and promises more action for those who couldn't get enough of the first season, which garnered both critical and commercial success.
Shankar said that the second season would bring things full circle.
"Season 2 is the continuation story of season 1 so we're really bringing this narrative into a full circle," he said during a Netflix panel.
Shankar thanked the supporters of Castlevania and celebrated the inclusion of anime in the modern world's culture and consciousness, saying that when he was younger, it "wasn't cool."
"This was the stuff that I got made fun of as a kid, you know what I mean? I couldn't walk around with a powerglove when I was 16. I couldn't talk about anime and video games because that wasn't cool," he said.
"But all of a sudden we live in a world where this is part of the collective culture, this is part of the consciousness. We're talking about a global mythology here, a shared understanding," he added.
Castlevania Season 2 will launch on Netflix on October 26, 2108. — DVM, GMA News
