Maricel Laxa: Liz Almoro is picking up the pieces

Though saddened by the court's decision, actress Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan is not bothered by some people expressing doubts about her testimony in defense of Willie Revillame's estranged wife, Liz Almoro. Speaking to Showbiz Central in a taped interview aired yesterday, November 11, Maricel calmly said: "May mga taong nagsasabi nga sa akin na dismissed 'yong kaso. Ang sa akin naman, hindi ako naaapektuhan kung anong sasabihin ng tao or ano 'yong iniisip ng mga tao tungkol sa akin or sa kaibigan ko. Basta ang importante, alam ko ‘yong totoo at makakatulog ako sa gabi knowing 'yon ang totoo." Maricel was a neighbor of the Revillames and when Liz decided to abandon her marriage and filed a case against the comedian-host. Maricel stood up for the beleaguered wife by agreeing to testify in support of Liz's claims that her marriage was detrimental, both physically and emotionally. Willie was charged for allegedly violating Republic Act 9262 or the "Anti-violence Against Women and their Children." Just recently, the Department of Justice (DOJ) dismissed the case for lack of merit. "Actually kasi hindi ko naman alam ‘yong naging outcome nung resolution. Kasi apparently nauna 'yong media makaalam kesa sa lawyers," said Maricel. MOVING FORWARD. Liz's lawyer, on the other hand, refused to give further details, although they furnished a letter to Showbiz Central with regards to the issue. "On behalf of our client, Ms. Liz Almoro, we wish not to comment on the merits of the latest resolution hand by the Department of Justice. While the resolution may have brought back to life the shadows of the past, the same still failed to dull the one and only truth. Ms. Almoro finds rest in the consoling love of her parents and the warm hug of her son. As she had successfully done, she shall continue to embrace life's challenges with expectant hope and resolve." Despite moving out of the house she once shared with Willie, Liz has maintained continuous communication with Maricel and kept her updated on what she's been doing lately after the controversial separation. "She's doing very well. She's going to finish her Master studies. She's working on her thesis, 'tapos she's moving on her with life. And I think ang pinaka-importante sa kanya ngayon ay si Juamee, ang kanyang anak," said Maricel.
