UFC's Brandon Vera plans to build a house in RP
Brandon 'The Truth' Vera took Manila by storm. The Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) heavyweight fighter made his presence felt and captured the hearts of Filipinos everywhere. But there's more! He will soon be seen on Philippine television using his fighting skills. Not for the UFC® championship but for the newest fantaserye of GMA, Carlo J. Caparas' Kamandag. Arriving here in the country to train Richard Gutierrez in mixed martial arts, Brandon Vera made heads turn not only because of his powerful presence but because of his good command of the Filipino language. Born and raised in America, he is of Filipino descent having a Pinoy father and an Italian-American mother. In his interviews, Brandon is very vocal about how much he loves the country and that he will soon be back in the Philippines. "Gusto ko talaga dito, I love it here. Sinabi ko sa asawa ko gusto kong magpatayo ng bahay dito," shares the UFC® fighter in an iGMA exclusive interview. He assures his fans that he will be back in the country if not in December, then early next year. The Martial Arts Guru Being a heavyweight fighter of an international fighting competition, he is more than qualified to train Richard Gutierrez in mixed martial arts. To add to his credentials, iGMA found out that he in fact owns the biggest gym in San Diego, California. "Malaki! It is the biggest gym in San Diego! It is more than 3000 sq ft. Alliance Training Center 'yung pangalan," declares Brandon during the press conference of Carlo J. Caparas' Kamandag. Adept in Judo, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling, Brandon caught Richard's attention and was tapped to come to the Philippines and instruct the Primetime King in his fighting scenes. The Assassin in Kamandag It came as a big surprise that the Filipino-American-Italian fighter is now acting and a part of the cast of Carlo J. Caparas' Kamandag. "Si Richard Gutierrez actually ang nagtanong sa akin kung pwede. He asked GMA to get me for a trainer, and just working and talking to Carol Reyes, Ms. Redgie, nakausap ko lahat ng mga cast, nakita ko 'yung directors , you know , how do you say it, bati batian? And I was talking to everybody, sabi nila 'Oy punta ka dito Monday ha, mag shu-shoot ka, ikaw ang Assassin. Don't worry you don't have any lines, you are just going to shoot somebody and Richard is going to hit you, tapos tatakbo ka na lang'. I said 'O cge, kaya ko yun!'" narrates Brandon in his superb Tagalog. And true to form, he nailed the role and fell in love with acting. "Parang naglalaro ka lang e! Who won't like that? Light ang load, walang taong susuntok sa aking mukha! Ayun! Sandali lang e. Okay ang trabaho. 'Yun nga lang mahirap. I thought it was easy, pero talaga si Richard one day, nag start ang shooting nya ng 11 ng hapon. It didn't end until 7 in the morning. So mahirap talaga ang buhay ng actor dito, iba. Kala ko easy-easy lang," assesses the UFC® heavyweight fighter. - iGMA.tv
