'I FELT UNSAFE'

Pia Wurtzbach opens up about weird messages from a fan who waits outside her building

Pia Wurtzbach recently admitted feeling "unsafe" after learning that a fan, who has been sending her "weird" emails has also been lurking around her home.

In the latest episode of the "Between Us Queens" podcast, the 2015 Miss Universe shared that she would frequently receive angry messages and unsolicited pictures online, but this man had sent her the "weirdest email that I ever got."

"Ang haba niya, ine-explain niya sa 'kin na, ayun na nga daw, hinihintay daw niya nga ako, gagawin daw niya akong queen of heaven, at magsasama daw kami habang buhay, at kami daw talaga dapat," Pia shared.

[It was a long email, and he explained that he was waiting for me, he was going to make me the queen of heaven and that we were going to be together forever. We were meant to be, he said.]

"So I sent this to the building because I felt unsafe."

One day, Pia was informed that a woman working in one of the stores around her building saw a man watching her videos non-stop for several days.

"Meron daw lalaki doon na, everyday, nandoon from umaga hanggang gabi tapos pinapanuod lang niya yung mga videos ko ng paulit-ulit everyday," Pia said, adding the dude had been doing the same thing for about two months.

[There was a guy who would hang around there from morning til night, everyday, just watching my videos. Repeatedly, everyday.]

"It was during the pandemic so I wasn't leaving my unit. I wasn't going out," she said in Filipino.

Fortunately, Pia was able to identify the person from his emails and her building has taken steps to "resolve" the issue.

"They were able to get the ID of the person, so we got the name. Kinakabahan lang ako kasi laging may dalang backpack daw," she said.

[He always had a backpack on him so that scared me.]

"So, you know, my mind is playing tricks on me. I don't know what's inside that backpack, and what if ma-tripan ko lang bumaba sa convenience store na mag-isa ako. Parang, anong gagawin niya sa 'kin?"

[I don't know what's inside that backpack. What if I needed something from the convenience store and decided to go down by myself? What would he do to me?]

Pia said she has also reported the person to the police, who informed her that he was already considered "a threat to [her] life."

"So, girls, if you're listening to this now, this is when you report, when you start feeling unsafe," the beauty queen said.
