PEP: Kaputol ng Isang Awit ends on a high note

Songs filled the air when afternoon soap Kaputol ng Isang Awit ended its run with an amazing 26.2 percent rating last Friday, June 13. This figure propelled the GMA-7 Sine Novela into No. 1 and posted one of its highest ratings ever. Another Sine Novela, Magdusa Ka, came in second with 23.4 percent; followed by Eat Bulaga, Daisy Siete, and El Cuerpo del Deseo to complete the Top 5. As usual, Dyesebel topped the primetime race with 40.6 percent. Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita followed with a strong 37 percent while Joaquin Bordado and 24 Oras came in third and fourth, respectively. Lobo, which grabbed the fifth spot, was the highest-rated Kapamilya show with 23.3 percent. The rest of the Top 10 were occupied by The Singing Bee, My Girl, Pinoy Idol, Pinoy Dream Academy, and TV Patrol World. As expected, Eat Bulaga! once again topped the daytime race last Saturday, June 14, with 23.4 percent. StarTalk, which featured Rudy Fernandez's burial, was a far second with 18.9 percent. The Kapamilya noontime show Wowowee was in third place; followed by Wish Ko Lang and Takeshi's Castle. The primetime race was ruled by Bitoy's Funniest Videos, which generated a 32-percent rating. GMA-7 News and Public Affairs shows Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and Imbestigador placed second and third, respectively. The announcement of the Top 15 scholars in Pinoy Dream Academy got 25.8 percent to grab fifth place; this was followed by the ladies' performances in Pinoy Idol, which got 21.9 percent. GMA-7's showbiz talk show Showbiz Central, meanwhile, topped the daytime race last Father's Day (June 15). It posted a rating of 14.4 percent rating against The Buzz's 11 percent, which grabbed the No. 5 spot. ABS-CBN's musical-variety show ASAP '08 placed second with 13.9 percent versus SOP's 13.4 percent, which came in third place. Kap's Amazing Stories was the No. 1 primetime program with 23.6 percent; followed by Mel & Joey, Pinoy Idol, Pinoy Dream Academy, and All Star K.
