It has been a trend that after
Survivor Philippines, most of the castaways enter show business. But in the case of Aubrey Miles, one of the castaways in the celebrity edition of the hist GMA-7 reality show, being part of the show is her goal, and not as a means to revive her career in the industry. "I did
Survivor not for the exposure for my career. I did it because I love the show. Una palang, hindi pa Celebrity [edition], pinipilit ko na si Paolo [Bediones, former host], 'Oy, gusto ko sumali diyan.' "Yun nga mga lineup ko, gusto ko reality show. Next, I want another reality show na I'm planning to join and let's see what's gonna happen," she said in an interview with PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the Pampers Babylympics held at Holiday Inn in Ortigas, Pasig City last October 18. Aubrey and two-year-old son Hunter energetically competed and bested the rest of the celebrity moms and babies. However, the partner of Troy Montero said that she is still open for the industry but stressed that there will be changes from when she left. "Kung merong magandang offer, pero hindi na tulad ng dati na yung work like a horse. Alam ko na kung ano yung priorities ko─family, myself and then showbiz, my work," she said.
FAMILY FIRST. As if mellowed by time and motherhood, Aubrey sets family, especially her son, her priority. "Gusto ko mag-work pag worth it na iwan ko yung anak ko sa bahay. Pag worth it talaga, and then I'll go for it," said Aubrey, who has another child from a previous relationship. The actress also voiced out that she isn't keen on going back on doing too much sexy roles, like the ones she did before. "Hindi na yung pabalik, dapat yung pa-forward. Mamaya, sexy na naman. Kumbaga, tapos na ako dun. Gusto ko din yung sexy, pero hindi na talaga tulad ng before na alam n'yo na yun," she said. Aubrey's past sexy movies include Prosti (2002), where she played the role of a provincial prostitute, and Xerex (2003), a movie based on a tabloid sex-advice column where she played three different roles. On the other hand, Aubrey said that she would still pose for men's magazines because she considers it easier and it doesn't consume much of her time. She singled out FHM: "They do it artistic for me. Sila, 'pag gumawa sila, hindi bastusin."
THE DEAL WITH TROY. Asked if she has partner Troy Montero's blessing on the possibility of her showbiz comeback, Aubrey said that Troy doesn't have an problem with it. However, he has just one condition: "Ayaw niya na i-prioritize ko yung showbiz. Gusto niya yung baby talaga. Kasi siya nagwo-work for us, tapos aalis lang ako, iiwan ko yung baby ko." Aubrey added, "Wala naman siyang sinasabi na magtrabaho ako. Financially, okay naman kami. Basta kumportable kami." How about Troy, who was one of the most sough-after hunks during his time? "Hindi. Sabi niya, feeling niya, too old na daw [siya]. Gusto niya behind the camera," Aubrey said.
ERVIC VIJANDRE. While in Thailand for
Survivor Philippines, Aubrey was noticeably close to model-athlete Ervic Vijandre, 24. In an interview with PEP last October 18, Ervic said that he thinks of Aubrey as his older sister. "Close, kasi parang brother niya 'ko. Yung little brother niya yung... ewan ko, may little brother daw siya." Aubrey attested to that and explained that Ervic has a certain resemblance to her older brother. "Kaboses niya yung older brother ko, ka-damit niya, ka-height, kamukha niya... So, I know right away, first day na siya na yung magiging alliance ko," she said. Aubrey added that Ervic's openness on his personal life also made her feel at ease with the model. "Kasi kung andun kayo sa isla na wala kayong ginagawa, tapos may isang lalaki na kuwento nang kuwento ng buhay niya, na na-touch ako, kasi yung story niya with his ex, yung loyalty niya. Ako, yung story ko naman, na-share ko naman ng konti. "Hanggang ngayon, open pa din siya sa mga personal life niya, ganun. Ewan ko ba, in 36 days, nakabuo ako ng best friend na lalake," Aubrey said about her friendship with Ervic.
ERVIC IS OVER MARIAN. Since the two have talked about their personal lives, particularly about Ervic's ex-girlfriend Marian Rivera, does Aubrey think Ervic has totally moved on from his relationship with the famous actress which lasted for more than six years? "Over na siya. Over na siya. Over na siya kay Marian," was Aubrey's assessment. However, Aubrey stressed that Ervic prefers that people stop linking him to Marian. "Pero ayaw na niya na napag-uusapan pa kasi nirerespeto niya yung relationship nila before. Tsaka nirerespeto niya yung relationship nila [Marian and current boyfriend Dingdong Dantes]. "Ayaw niya ng tinutukso siya, 'Uy, mahal mo pa!' It's not that nahe-hurt siya, ayaw niyang bastusin, parang ganun siya. Kaya nga gentleman siya, e," Aubrey explained. -
