By RACHELLE SIAZON, PEP
Rachelle Ann Go revealed that she will no longer extend her role as Gigi in Miss Saigon after her contract expires on May 9.
But the West End actress clarified that she still plans to pursue a career in London even after her Miss Saigon stint.
“As of now, pinag-iisipan ko pa what I want to do next.
“Pero nakapag-decide na ako that I’m not gonna extend anymore as Gigi.
“So, last show ko sa Miss Saigon sa May 9.
"After that, I still don’t know," said Rachelle Ann in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and two other entertainment reporters at Crowne Plaza this afternoon, March 11.
Although she didn’t reveal any definite details yet, Rachelle Ann shared that she’s eyeing a role in another famous musical, Les Misérables, which is slated to premiere in West End on May 11.
Even if Miss Saigon will end two days before the start of Les Misérables, Rachelle Ann said she’s ready to take on that challenge if given the chance.
“I actually told the company that I wanna try other roles.
“So, naging open naman ako.
“Sabi ko, [gusto ko ng] Wicked and Les Misérables also.
“Hindi ko pa alam. I still don’t know what’s gonna happen,” she stated.
Rachelle Ann’s remarkable performance as Gigi won her the Best Featured Actress in A Musical in the 2014 Broadway World West End Awards.
The 28-year-old singer/actress readily said yes when asked if she’s willing to play the lead role in Miss Saigon next season.
But she reiterated that she’d be able to grow more as an artist by trying out in other musicals. —PEP
