Jaclyn Jose related her conversation with Hollywood actress Kirsten Dunst while in an elevator, right after the awards night of the 69th Cannes Film Festival last May 22, Sunday.

Kirsten is a member of the jury at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and a previous Best Actress recipient.

She won in 2011 for the film Melancholia.

Kirsten also starred in Spider-Man movie series with Tobey Maguire.

Last week, Jaclyn was named as this year's Best Actress at Cannes for her performance in the Brillante Mendoza film Ma’ Rosa.

At the press conference of her upcoming sex comedy series on GMA Network, A1 Ko Sa ‘Yo, last Tuesday, May 24, the veteran actress was asked about the Cannes awards night where a number of people were touched by her acceptance speech.

Jaclyn mentioned that she saw Kirsten getting emotional.

“Si Kirsten Dunst, nagpupunas [ng luha]. Because they said they never thought that an actor from my country will be spontaneous as well,” she continued.

Jaclyn is the first Filipino and first actress from Southeast Asia to win Best Actress at Cannes.

Jaclyn shared to the reporters that she and the Hollywood actress had a talk while on the elevator, and Kirsten revealed to her why she was touched by her acceptance speech.

“Sabi ni Kirsten sa ‘kin—rubbing elbows kami sa elevator—she was touched because she thought it was a beautiful speech and that grabbing of my daughter’s hand, my not letting go of my daughter, dun daw ang emotions nila.”

After she was announced as the winner for Best Actress, the obviously surprised Jaclyn hugged her director, Brillante Mendoza, and held hands with daughter Andi Eigenmann.

Andi is also part of the Ma' Rosa cast where she plays Jaclyn's daughter.

Jaclyn was also shown pulling Andi’s hand to go with her on the stage.

During her acceptance speech, Jaclyn also introduced her daughter to the audience.

Jaclyn said that, as a mother, it was her instinct to be with a loved one in the moment of triumph.

“Ako naman, I go by my instinct, that’s how I felt.

“Yun naman yung pure ng heart mo, e, yung genuine.

“Yun din naman ang mararamdaman ng tao, hindi naman natin puwedeng i-dictate ‘yan, e.”

Yesterday, May 25, Andi tweeted the photo of that elevator moment that she and her mother shared with Kirsten, along with French singer-model-actress Vanessa Paradis. -- For more showbiz news, visit PEP.ph
