Julie Anne San Jose dedicates 'Naririnig Mo Ba' to Benjamin Alves

Julie Anne San Jose’s newest album Chasing The Light is a reflection of her journey, not only in finding true love but making her career goals come true.

Produced under GMA Records, it’s a nine-track album with two original compositions: 'Naririnig Mo Ba' and 'Not A Game,' written by the Kapuso singer herself.

The 22-year-old performer told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal): “Iba-iba yung message bawat kanta. Yung 'Chasing The Light' may mga times kasi sa buhay natin we feel down and discouraged.

'Hindi maganda kung palagi kang nasa dilim. Kapag nasa dilim ka, kailangan hanapin mo palagi yung liwanag.”

Julie Anne admitted that there were times when she felt stuck in the proverbial blackhole.

“Siguro there were moments na na-feel ko yung ganun. Kasi marami akong na-experience na mga problems sa sarili ko, sa paligid ko—basta lahat.

“So, kumbaga isa rin yun sa mga dahilan kung bakit ako nagpapatuloy. Kung bakit gusto palagi maging strong din para sa sarili ko, para sa family ko, para sa mga taong mahal ko, especially sa mga supporters ko. Kasi kung wala sila, wala rin ako rito.”

“Yung mga tao who bring you down. Wala ka naman magawa kasi hindi mo naman sila mapi-please. Ginagawa mo lang naman yung trabaho mo.

Asked about the lowest point in her life, Julie Anne admitted that there were times when she got really affected by her bashers.

“Yung mga tao who bring you down. Wala ka naman magawa kasi hindi mo naman sila mapi-please. Ginagawa mo lang naman yung trabaho mo.

“I take it as a challenge. Na-thrill din ako to do better. I always believe na I can do better.”

The only other thing that put her down was the time when her father was totally against her joining show business.

In 2005, she was only 12 or 13 years old when she joined Popstar Kids, a talent contest on QTV-11.

“Sinabi niya before sa akin na, ‘Huwag ka na tumuloy diyan kasi masisira lang yung school mo. Tapos mawalan ka ng time with family.’

“Siyempre nagsisimula pa lang, mas marami pa yung ginagastos mo kaysa sa kinikita mo.

“Tapos sinabi ko sa kanya na sumali ako, tapos nagustuhan ko na siya. And I really love what I’m doing kasi I’m passionate about music, I’m passionate about singing.”
