Another Jetsons film in the works —report
After more than 20 years, another animated feature film on "The Jetsons" could be in the works, entertainment news site Deadline.com reported over the weekend.
The report said Warner Bros. has tapped Matt Lieberman to write the script for the film based on the 1960s Hanna-Barbera cartoon.
Lieberman got the job after his script work on the animated Scooby-Doo movie for Warner Bros. and Atlas, the report said.
For "The Jetsons," he will be starting his script from scratch, the report added.
A film on "The Jetsons" was released in 1990. "The Jetsons" is a space-age counterpart to Hanna-Barbera's own stone-age animated show "The Flintstones."
But tech site The Verge said that while the 1990 film was directed by Joseph Barbera, one of the show's original creators, it got negative reviews.
Meanwhile, a separate report on Variety.com noted Warner Bros., which owns the Hanna-Barbera library, had been working on a live-action version of “The Jetsons” as recently as 2012. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
