‘Avengers’ star Cobie Smulders talks about being diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 25

Hollywood actress Colbie Smulders, who appears in the "Avengers" franchise as well as other films and television programs, has revealed that she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer seven years ago.

In an interview with Women's Health magazine, the actress shared her experience publicly for the first time after she battled the sickness while shooting the third season of the top-rated television series 'How I Met Your Mother' at only 25 years old.

According to Cobie, it took two years of multiple surgeries to remove all the cancerous tissues that has spread into her lymph nodes and surrounding tissues and caused the formation of tumors in both of her ovaries.

"Now that I'm five years out, I'm trying to think of it as a positive thing and what can I learn from it. And if I can create more awareness, I'll do it," she says.

Cobie has welcomed her second child with husband TV host Taran Killam in January.

After starring in the latest "Avengers" movie, she is also set to appear in the upcoming comedy film "Results" as well as in drama "Unexpected" both due out this year. — Bianca Rose Dabu/JDS, GMA News
