Pop star Mariah Carey is honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Pop star Mariah Carey, one of the best-selling women solo artists of the last two decades, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday (August 5).

 

The Grammy Award winner, known for songs such as "Hero" and "When You Believe", received her star in the 'recording' category in front of hundreds of fans who waited hours to catch a glimpse of the 45-year-old singer.

 

"It feels great to have the time to come and just receive this honor and I feel so humbled by all the fans and all the people that came and had such beautiful things to say and it's a wonderful day to be here," Carey said after the star was unveiled.

 

Carey recently wrapped up a residency performing her chart-topping hits at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas and released a greatest hits album "Mariah Carey #1 To Infinity" on May 18.

 

Carey has won five Grammys, the music industry's top honors, and sold more than 200 million records worldwide.  — Reuters
