Unforgettable moments at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards

Pop won big time at the 2016 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Monday evening (Tuesday morning in the Philippines) when Taylor Swift's first purely pop album "1989" won Album of the Year, Ed Sheeran's hit "Thinking Out Loud" was announced Song of the Year, and Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' dance tune "Uptown Funk" became Record of the Year.

The night's big winner Swift opened the awards show with "Out of the Woods" in a sparkly black jumpsuit and a new haircut. Winning Album of the Year earned her a spot in history as the first woman to win in the said category twice. Her first Album of the Year award was in 2010 for "Fearless."

Aside from making history, Swift also took a swipe at rapper Kanye West, whom she had a rift in 2009 for interrupting her speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. All was well between them until West recently released "Famous," a song in his new album, "The Life of Pablo." The song included this line: "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous."

"As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame," Swift said.

"But if you just focus on the work and you won’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there," she continued.

Pop aside, rapper Kendrick Lamar was also a big winner at the Grammys. He won five awards including Best Rap Album for "To Pimp a Butterfly" as well as Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for Alright.

Other artists also stepped their game up to perform at the awards show. Lady Gaga paid a tribute to one of her heroes, the late David Bowie.

Adele, who sang "All I Ask", suffered a technical problem, which she later explained on Twitter: "Sh*t happens."
