Harry Potter author introduces a new wizarding school
Harry Potter author, J. K. Rowling, has introduced to a new school of witchcraft and wizardry through the Pottermore website.
An animated clip that is almost two minutes long introduces Ilvermorny, the American version of Hogwarts.
The short narrative about the school speaks of a school hidden by clouds and spells, protected by enchanted stone walls is reminiscent of the classic battles faced by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is an original story written by Rowling, the author behind the successful Harry Potter series, can be accessed through Pottermore.com.
The Pottermore websites and social media accounts also challenges visitors to be sorted into the houses of the North American school, named after four magical creatures.
• Horned Serpent – a ‘great horned river serpent with a jewel set into its forehead’
• Pukwudgie – ‘a short, grey-faced, large-eared creature’
• Thunderbird – a creature that ‘can create storms as it flies’
