Josh Brolin cast as Cable in ‘Deadpool’ sequel
Here's a casting choice out of left field: Fox and Marvel have reportedly chosen the actor to play one of the X-Men Universe’s most famous characters, and it’s American actor Josh Brolin.
Brolin has nabbed the role of Nathan Summers, a.k.a. Cable, for the untitled "Deadpool" sequel that will feature the return of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth!

According to an exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter, Brolin has won the role over other contenders such as Michael Shannon (“Man of Steel”) and David Harbour (“Stranger Things”).
Cable—a time-traveling mutant who occasionally butts heads with the “breaking the fourth wall” mercenary Deadpool—will be Brolin’s second Marvel character, as he is already playing Thanos in Marvel Studios’ highly successful film series. Brolin made an uncredited appearance as Thanos in 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
The "Deadpool" sequel will be directed by David Leitch and is set to start production in June. Actress Zazie Beetz will also be appearing the sequel as character Domino.
As part of the X-Men Movies universe, Cable is the son of Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, and is always seen with a techno-organic arm and a lot of firearms at his disposal. How he’ll factor into the "Deadpool" follow-up film remains to be seen, but expect a lot of bickering and humor.
