Roose Bolton joins Khal Drogo in ‘Justice League’
One of the most anticipated films of 2017 just got another familiar face added to its ranks. Irish actor Michael McElhatton, who played "Game of Thrones" baddie Roose Bolton, has been cast in Warner Bros. and DC Films’ upcoming superhero team film “Justice League.” His role is still shrouded in absolute secrecy.
McElhatton confirmed the role during an interview with Red Carpet News TV, in which the actor stated that he was in the film but that he couldn’t really give specifics on his role. He did, however, say that the movie “looks pretty amazing,” and that there would be “more humor in it.”
The actor did reveal that his appearance takes place during an opening scene in the film. “"The scene I did...Well at the moment I can say it's a big kind of opening scene. It was pretty dark actually, in its tone. But in a good way...I quite like that. It wasn't comic book-y, but you can thread a certain amount of humor through it, which maybe [Batman v Superman] was lacking."
From season two until season six of the critically acclaimed HBO TV series “Game of Thrones,” McElhatton played the treacherous Roose Bolton, the head of a house once dedicated to the Starks. He betrays them to secure his position as Warden of the North after making a deal with the Lannisters. Roose has a bastard son named Ramsay Iwan Rheon), who manages to win his father’s favor and after winning some battles on behalf of their family. But Roose’s ignorance of Ramsay’s sadistic nature and instability causes the fall of his house, as he is eventually murdered by his own son.
McElhatton will be joining another "Game of Thrones" actor in the big hero ensemble: Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo on the HBO show, now stars as Aquaman, one of the movie's leads and the star of his own solo movie spin-off coming next year.
"Justice League" will be released in theaters in November. — BM, GMA News
