Fil-Am Francisco Martin enters 'American Idol' Top 7
Francisco Martin entered American Idol's Top 7 after safely advancing to the next round of the competition.
The young Filipino-American singer had a jaw-dropping performance singing the hit Disney song from the animated film Tarzan titled "You'll Be Here In My Heart."
After the performance, Lionel Richie had nothing but good words to the performer, commending the confidence he has developed.
"We're witnessing right here the transformation of Francisco," Lionel began.
"You were actually smiling at yourself while you were performing what you're doing now is you're giving us the confidence and the enjoyment and by the way we as an audience we love to see that kind of emotion," he added.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry said Francisco's performance was "brilliant and amazing" with his self-doubt stripped away.
Katy also just got real and said what he gave the judges and the audience was what she wanted from another "American Idol" contestant Louis Knight.
"This is a competition let's get real... You are a good bet," Katy told Francisco.
Meanwhile, Luke Bryan said Francisco's performance earned him the title the "King of American Idol."
“My man! Great job. Just in that performance, you were like the King of the jungle and you felt like the King of American Idol in my opinion," Luke told Francisco.

Heartfelt Mother's Day performance
For his second performance, he sang his own rendition of "River" while his frontliner mom listened to him as he sang.
After his wowing performance, Katy said it just showed who deserves the top position.
"You are making it difficult for all these other contestants because that performance was soulful, beautiful, and real," she said. "It was so heartfelt, what you just did."
Luke said they have heard of the song many times, "but man from the first note I would buy that right now, I would go spend my money on that right now."
Lionel, once again, noticed how Francisco was brimming with confidence during his performance.
“The thing I love the most is your confidence is front and center. You're no longer in your head. Congratulations because you have a career and that is what's important."
After his performance from the last episode, Francisco opened up about worrying for his mother who is working as a medical frontliner amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
