‘Parasite,’ ‘When the Camellia Blooms’ bag top honors at Baeksang Arts Awards

Academy Awards Best Picture “Parasite” and television drama “When the Camellia Blooms” have won the top honors at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.

The two won the daesangs or grand prize in the film and TV categories, respectively.

“Parasite” also bagged the Best Film award, while “Hot Stove League” took home Best Drama.

Best Actor Kang Ha-neul (“When the Camellia Blooms”) beat out Namgoong Min (“Hot Stove League”), Park Seo-joon (“Itaewon Class”), Ju Ji-hoon (“Hyena”) and Hyun Bin (“Crash Landing on You”).

Kim Hee-ae (“The World of the Married”) bested Gong Hyo-jin (“When the Camellia Blooms”), Kim Hye-soo (“Hyena”), Son Ye-jin (“Crash Landing on You”) and IU (“Hotel Del Luna”) for the Best Actress recognition.

“Crash Landing On You” stars Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, meanwhile, took home the TikTok Popularity Award.

According to Soompi’s report, the event was held without an audience in light of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

However, that did not stop the South Korean stars from showing up dressed to the nines.

Baeksang Arts Awards is held every year to honor outstanding achievements in South Korean film, television, and theater.
