Red Velvet's Irene is set to star in her very first film!

Marking her debut on the silver screen, Irene will star in the upcoming film "Double Patty" as confirmed by SM Entertainment in a Soompi report last Thursday.

A representative of the agency shared that Irene will be playing the role of an "aspiring anchorwoman" in the film.

Directed by Baek Seung Hwan, "Double Patty" is a coming-of-age film that follows the growth of a couple of young people.

According to Soompi, the movie is scheduled to begin filming in August and will hit cinemas by the end of the year.

Red Velvet, a South Korean girl band also composed of Wendy, Seulgi, Joy and Yeri, is known for their popular songs such as "Psycho" and "Bad Boy."
