Ryan Murphy musical film 'The Prom' starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden to premiere on Netflix

We're not over Ratched just yet but look it: Another Ryan Murphy offering is coming.

"The Prom" is a star-studded musical headlined by Meryl Streep with the incredible director at the helm, and it is coming to Netflix in December!

With Streep (Dee Dee Allen) are James Corden (Barry Glickman), Nicole Kidman (Angie) Kerry Washington (PTA Head), Keegan-Michael Key (high school principal), just to name a few.

The film adaptation of the award-winning Tony-nominated Broadway musical, "The Prom" follows New York City stage stars Dee Dee and Barry, whose careers flatline after their expensive new Broadway show becomes a major flop.

Meanwhile in small-town Indiana, high schooler Emma Nolan (Jo Ellen Pellman) is experiencing a heartbreak when her school's head of PTA, despite the support of their high school principal, bans her from attending prom with her girlfriend Alyssa (Ariana Debose).

Dee Dee and Barry decide that Emma's situation is the perfect cause to help them with their public images so they hit the road with Angie (Nicole Kidman) and Trent (Andrew Rannells).

Their self-absorbed celebrity activism backfires and all four of them find themselves upended as they rally to give Emma a night she can truly celebrate who she is.

Sounds like a ball doesn't it? "The Prom" premieres on Netflix come December 11. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
