Oscars 2021: Fil-Am singer H.E.R. wins best original song trophy for 'Fight For You'


Fil-Am singer H.E.R. took home the Oscars for Best Original Song on Sunday night for "I Fight For You," the song featured in the movie "Judas and the Black Messiah."

Before the ceremony proper, H.E.R. performed her nominated composition at the special lead-in show "Oscars: Into the Spotlight.

In an interview with GMA Hollywood correspondent Janet Susan R. Nepales, H.E.R. said "I Fight For You" was written in her bedroom at her mom's house. And when she played it for her father, he "was in tears."

"He was the first person I played it for," H.E.R. said.  

She shares her victory with co-songwriters Tiara Thomas and Dernst Emile II.

 

 

Her Oscar win is a sweet follow up to her Grammy trophy last month, where she won Song of the Year for "I Can't Breathe." — LA, GMA News
