Salma Hayek reveals she almost died while battling COVID-19

Salma Hayek just revealed that she almost died after contracting COVID-19.

The 54-year-old actress opened up about her “near-fatal” battle with the disease in a recently-published interview with Variety magazine.

“My doctor begged me to go to the hospital because it was so bad. I said, ‘No, thank you. I’d rather die at home’,” Hayek told the publication.

According to Variety, the “Desperado” star spent about seven weeks inside a self-isolation room in her London home, which she shares with her husband Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault and their daughter, Valentina.

The article said Hayek needed to be put on oxygen at one point, and that she “still hasn’t fully regained the energy she once had.”

Nevertheless, Hayek has been busy promoting her upcoming projects online.

The Mexican-American actress is part of Marvel’s “Eternals” whose star-studded cast includes Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington and Millie Bobby Brown.

Hayek is also expected to appear in Ridley Scott’s “House of Gucci” alongside Lady Gaga and Adam Driver; as well as the upcoming action-comedy film “Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” with Ryan Reynolds. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
