Lorde burns sages, uses crystals in new 'satirical' single 'Mood Ring'

Get ready for a deep cleansing of the soul as Lorde drops another single from her upcoming "Solar Power" album!

Ahead of the record's release, Lorde dropped the third track off the record, "Mood Ring" and its accompanying music video, giving listeners another mellow acoustic anthem that offers a reflection to our own distractions.

In the video, a platinum blonde-haired Lorde burns sages, uses crystals and performs rituals with other women in what appears to be a cult-like ceremony.

The video appears to point at today's wellness culture as she sung the lyrics, "Ladies, begin your sun salutations / Transcendental in your meditations (love and light)/You can burn sage, and I'll cleanse the crystals / We can get high, but only if the wind blows."

Before dropping the music video, Lorde hosted a 15-minute livestream on YouTube where she described "Mood Ring" as a song about "trying to feel spiritually connected in our modern world and all the little tools and systems we use to try to fill that."

"I sort of underwent something of a transformation for this video because this song is satirical. I was writing from the perspective of a character who is not me," the singer added.

"Solar Power," to be released on Aug. 20, marks the end of the 24-year old's four-year hiatus.

She released her last album "Melodrama" in 2017. She skyrocketed to fame after dropping her first album "Pure Heroine" in 2013. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
