APART FROM MARIO

Chris Pratt to also voice Garfield in upcoming animated feature film

Chris Pratt is also set to give life to Garfield in an upcoming animated feature film about the famous cat, after being unveiled as Mario’s voice last September.

No final details have been set yet, Variety reported on Monday, but the movie will be inspired by Jim Davis’ comic strip.

There have also been no title finalized as of writing, but it will be written by David Reynold and directed by Mark Dindal. Its premiere date is yet to be announced.

The orange feline was previously voiced by Bill Murray in “Garfield” from 2004 and its sequel “Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties,” which premiered two years later.

On Instagram, Chris also shared the announcement with a photo of Garfield and highlighting the news' right timing.

"Well, this Monday doesn't suck," he wrote in the caption.

For the young ones out there, Garfield is a fictional lazy and tabby cat who loves eating lasagna and sleeping. Like many out there, he hates Mondays. He lives with his owner Jon Arbuckle and dog Odie. Garfield debuted in June 1978.

Chris Pratt, meanwhile, is widely known for his role as Peter Quill in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and the “Avengers.” He is also the lead in the animated urban fantasy film “Onward” with Tom Holland.

As of writing, Chris is among the top trending topics on Philippine Twitter after being cast for the Garfield role. — Francheca Viernes/LA, GMA News
