‘Running Man’ star Kim Jong Kook tests positive for COVID-19

Variety show star Kim Jong Kook has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a Soompi report, the actor's agency, Turbo JK Company, shared that the actor tested positive on Thursday.

In a statement, the agency said that Jong Kook, known for his participation in "Running Man" and "My Little Old Boy," had mild cold symptoms on Wednesday.

"Kim Jong Kook felt mild cold symptoms on Feb. 9, so he preemptively tested himself with a self-testing kit, and the results were positive," the agency said. "He then underwent PCR testing and was officially diagnosed with COVID-19 today."

The agency assured the public that Jong Kook had completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and he was not experiencing any major health issues.

He has also halted all his scheduled activities.

"We will do our best for the treatment and rapid recovery of Kim Jong Kook, and we will continue to follow the guidelines of the disease control authorities and put the health and safety of our artists and staff members first," Turbo JK Company said.

South Korean broadcasting company SBS also commented that Jong Kook's variety programs "Running Man" and "My Little Old Boy" won't experience major disruptions in future broadcasting because there were no recording schedules for the programs before and after Jong Kook tested positive. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
