Mads Mikkelsen talks about his ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore’ character Grindelwald
Mads Mikkelsen gives life to the character of Gellert Grindelwald on the epic fantasy adventure “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”!
In a featurette released this week, the “Hannibal” actor gave a sneak preview of his character, a powerful wizard who has been wanted for his radical beliefs and violent tactics.
“Gellert and Albus [Dumbledore] are very talented wizards who were once united in a common dream—to make the world what they felt would be a better place. It created a strong bond that lasted for quite a while … and then it shattered,” said Mikkelsen.
“His goal is not entirely insane, in the sense that he definitely believes it will lead to a better world. The means by which he wants to achieve that, however, is not necessarily what everybody else is agreeing on,” he added.
“Grindelwald cannot make a move against Dumbledore, but Albus is in the way of Gellert gaining absolute power. The film makes it very clear what each and every individual is trying to achieve; the question is how they are going to do it. I think it’s a wonderful story that takes us on a ride through this magical world.”
Directed by David Yates, “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” which casts Jude Law in the title role, opens in Philippine theaters on April 16. – RC, GMA News
