Rosmarie Trapp of the family who inspired 'The Sound of Music' passes away at 93


Rosmarie Trapp, the last surviving daughter of Georg von Trapp and Maria Augusta Kutschera, died at 93 on Friday, May 13. Their family inspired the classic musical “The Sound of Music.”

In a statement shared on Instagram, the Trapp family confirmed that Rosmarie passed away "peacefully" on Friday evening.

 

 

 

“Her kindness, generosity, and colorful spirit were legendary, and she had a positive impact on countless lives,” they said.

The Trapp family asked for privacy as they take time to process their loss “and prepare to celebrate the life of an amazing woman.”

“We believe the best way to recognize Rosmarie is to demonstrate the same selfless kindness and generosity that she exemplified daily,” said the statement, which was signed by Johannes, Lynne, Kristina, and Sam von Trapp.

Rosmarie, born in Salzburg, Austria, on Feb. 8, 1929, was the eldest child of Georg and his second wife Maria. She had seven half-siblings and two younger siblings. —Hermes Joy Tunac/JCB, GMA News
