Shawn Mendes postpones world tour: 'I need to take the time I've never taken personally'

After performing several shows in California and Canada, Shawn Mendes has canceled the rest of his tour to focus on his mental health.

On Wednesday night, The Grammy nominee took to Instagram to inform his fans and followers that he has to pause now.

According to the "Señorita" hitmaker, he had to postpone a few weeks of shows since he "wasn't totally prepared for the toll that being back on the road" would take on him.

"I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away," Shawn added.

After he spoke to his team and a group of health professionals, it became more apparent to Shawn that he needed a break to tend to his mental health.

"I need to take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger," the 23-year-old Canadian singer said.

Shawn's scheduled tours in North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe would have to wait for now.

"I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, and it breaks my heart to tell you this but I promise I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal," Shawn added.

He then thanked his fans for their support while he goes through this phase in his life.

"I love you all and thank you all so much for supporting me and sticking by me on this journey," he concluded.

In April 2022, Shawn has already opened up to fans about how "he's overwhelmed and overstimulated" about being back on tour after two years of the pandemic. — LA, GMA News
