Rex Orange County charged with 6 counts of sexual assault

Rex Orange County has been charged with six counts of sexual assault in the UK.

The news was first reported by The Sun, saying the 24-year-old English singer allegedly assaulted a woman twice in London’s West End on June 1.

It was reported that he also sexually assaulted her the next day, once in a taxi and three times in his home in Notting Hill. The woman is above 16 years old, the UK’s age of consent.

Born Alexander James O’Connor, Rex Orange County appeared at the Southwark Crown Court on October 10 and pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

He was released on unconditional bail and a provisional trial date was set for January 3, 2023.

In its report, The Sun released a statement from Rex’s representative, which said, “Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court,” and that “he is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings.”

Meanwhile The Guardian reports Rex canceled his upcoming tour in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe due to “unforeseen personal circumstances” that required him to spend time at home.

Rex first rose to fame in 2017 when he was featured in Tyler, The Creator’s album “Flower Boy.” His top songs include “Loving is Easy” and “Best Friend.” — LA, GMA News
