Lupita Nyong’o on the late Chadwick Boseman: 'He didn't have an ego about him'

Lupita Nyong’o opened up about her favorite memories with the late Chadwick Boseman and what she has learned from him.

In an interview on Lyn Ching’s YouTube channel, the GMA broadcaster asked about her best memory with Chadwick.

Lupita said she couldn't choose just one.

“I love it when they just occur to me—memories that I've forgotten about, and then they'll just occur to me," the Oscar winner said.

Lupita then recalled attending parties at Chadwick’s house while they were working on the first “Black Panther” film.

“He would play the drums [with] the music, and him and his friends would get in a drum circle and play so that it was just even more alive. He had a really spiritual relationship with [the] drum,” she said.

Lupita also shared what she learned from Chadwick.

“I remember how he was, how he moved through the world is something that has very much affected me,” she said. “He was always there at the right time.”

She added, “And so that ability to just own his space, and he didn't have an ego about him. He was just very deliberate in the way he moved. And he moved with just as though there was all the time in the world, and every moment was precious.”

Before ending the interview, Lyn asked Lupita what she misses most about Chadwick. She could only answer: “I miss him. Period.”

Chadwick, best known for his role as King T’Challa in “Black Panther,” passed away in 2020 due to cancer at the age of 43.
