Barbie Hsu’s ashes are now in Taiwan —reports

Barbie Hsu's ashes are now in Taiwan, various media outlets reported on Thursday.

Taiwanese newspaper Liberty Times obtained exclusive footage showing an urn of the late actress’ ashes being transported to Taipei Songshan Airport in Taiwan from the Haneda Airport in Japan on February 5.

The Straits Times also reported that Barbie’s mother Huang Chun Lan, younger sister and Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu, and her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo have returned to Taiwan with her remains.

In a statement released to media, as published by CNA, the family said, "She has arrived home safely. She is believed to be happy and worry-free now in heaven."

"Thank you to all media friends for waiting for Shi-yuan to come back in such cold weather," they added.

The family also said that they do not have a funeral planned.

“We will not organise a farewell ceremony for her as she has always been a low-key person. If you miss her, please keep it in your heart! Our whole family is grateful for your love for Shi-yuan."

It was announced on February 3 that Barbie passed away due to influenza-induced pneumonia. She was 48 years old.

She is survived by her husband, her husband DJ Koo, and her 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son from her previous marriage with Wang Xiao Fei, her husband of 10 years, whom she divorced in 2021.

Tributes poured in from Barbie’s fellow artists and “Meteor Garden” fans for their beloved Shan Cai.

Dong Shan Cai was the fierce main character in the series. It follows the life of Shan Cai, and her encounters with four wealthy boys, Dao Ming Si (Jerry Yan), Xi Men (Ken Chu), Mei Zuo (Vanness Wu), Hua Ze Lei (Vic Chou), at school.

Ken and Jerry posted individual tributes to the late star.
