Rebecca Black marks 14 years since viral song ‘Friday’ came out
“Friday” came out 14 years ago, and this is what Rebecca Black has to say about it!
On X (formerly Twitter), pop culture account Pop Base posted snaps viral song's music video and noted that it was released 14 years ago.
Rebecca quote-tweeted the post and wrote, “Girl this video officially older than I was when it dropped.”
“Old hag!” she added.
Totem Magazine also released a cover story and photoshoot about Rebecca and her career to mark the song's 14th year. The photos, which she she shared on Instagram Stories, featured her wearing a tattered “Friday Shirt” and a chic lace skirt.
“Friday” came out in 2011. The song, which is all about looking forward to partying on the weekend, quickly became viral and received a lot of criticism. Per Rebecca, she suffered from bullying and depression. She was only 13 years when it was released.
Despite everything, Rebecca pushed through with her music career.
She released three EPs starting in 2017 and dropped her first album, “Let Her Burn,” in 2023.
Rebecca is releasing a new EP, “Salvation,” on February 27. She is also going on tour in the U.S., U.K., and Canada this 2025.
