Ariana Grande mourns passing of grandmother Nonna
Ariana Grande and her family announced on Wednesday that her grandmother, Marjorie Grande, called by the singer and her fans as Nonna, has passed away. She was 99 years old.
The "Wicked" star shared her mother Joan's statement about their "beloved matriarch" on her Instagram Stories.
“Marjorie (Nonna) Grande passed peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family and loved ones for every moment of her last few weeks.”
The Grande family also thanked everybody for the love and support, and for respecting their privacy “as we grieve and celebrate her beautiful, extraordinary life.”
Ariana also shared a photo of Donna on what looks like her wedding day and captioned it, "Forever."
Nonna was a central figure in Ariana’s life. She was spotted at various events with Ariana and was featured in her song “Ordinary Things,” from the album “Eternal Sunshine.” The song appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and made Nonna the oldest person on the chart.
Ariana stars as Glinda the Good in “Wicked” and its sequel, “Wicked: For Good.” She was nominated for her first Oscar for her work in the first movie.
Her song, “Supernatural,” also recently went viral for being the soundtrack to the Kim Seon Ho smile trend.
More of her many hits include "7 Rings," "We Can't Be Friends," "Dangerous Woman," and "One Last Time."
